It’s 6:00 am. I crawl groggily out of bed, take care of the dog, and prepare the Keurig for my morning cup of coffee. I get ready for the day and head down to my home office to power up my computer. The hashtag. It all began back in 2007 when social technology expert, Chris Messina, was credited with the very first hashtag on Twitter: #barcamp. Since then, Twitter has seen an average of over 500 millions tweets per day. But since it’s inception, the hashtag has been used, and abused, time and time again.
